JIWC Fun Run/Walk at Bottle Hollow Lake

The last weekend in April, I helped organized a Fun Run/Walk/Bike in support of Heart Health (For any new readers, I work for the Special Diabetes Program for Indians--SDPI Healthy Heart Project, a project funded by a federal CVD Grant as well as Indian Health Service) and it was a HUGE success!! We had over 100 participants from the reservation show up, which was REALLY exciting! All of the hard work paid off. I gave Danny the option of waking up at 7:00 in the morning to go with me or sleeping in, and he chose  to come with, which was sweet of him, considering how hard I know it is for him to get out of bed that early :-) Unfortunately I had to oversee the registration table the entire time and so he had to walk the 5 miles around Bottle Hollow Lake all by himself. I was sad I couldn't walk it with him. But I have to say, he is a real trooper :-)

Festival of Colors!

We decided to head to the city for a weekend date, and it led us to the Festival of Colors, which is a Hindu tradition to celebrate spring. I've always wanted to go to one, and Danny has been to one and knows what it's all about, so this year we headed up one of the festivals in Salt Lake! If you're not familiar with what this is all about, you can see from the pictures that it involves a form of powder paint, that is thrown in synchronization with other festival go-ers, to celebrate life and spring. Part of the tradition also entails throwing paint onto random strangers, which symbolizes and is meant to create new friendships. Let me just sum all of this up: Hippy festival. Totally amazing :-) In another life that's what both Danny and I must have been, or at least would have been had we been born in the 60s. We had a blast! I literally have the most awesome and most fun husband to walk the earth. Sorry to make you all throw up with my love dedications, but damn. I'm so lucky!

After the festival, the date continued on with one of the best dining experiences we've ever had, at a place called "The Melting Pot," which is a fondu restaurant. Talk about gluttony. It was so incredibly delicious, tons of fun, and we would HIGHLY recommend this as a place to go when you want to splurge and just have a great date with friends, significant others, spouses, anyone random you meet on the street...you get the idea :-) Such a fun place!

While AT dinner, we spotted Danny's best man and former roommate, KJ, walking down the street with this lovely lady, and come to find out she is the new girlfriend, Jamie!! To make things even more CRAZY, we ran into them A SECOND time while walking around temple square, so we just decided to keep up the double date and spend the rest of the night walking downtown and visiting!! It was WONDERFUL!! Very random, very awesome!

Hiking Adventures with the Price Fam!

At the beginning of April, Danny's parents and sister Kathryn, along with her husband, Nate, all came for a visit, and we had so much fun! Below our pictures from two hikes; one to see the Indian Petroglyphs located on a nearby ranch (the area is open to the public, and it is a super awesome place...toanyone who visits and is up for a light hike, we'd be happy to take you:-) and the other one is at a landmark called "Moonshine Arch." We had SO much fun having them here with us in Vernal for the weekend! The hikes were followed by a trip to the Dinosaur museum, great food at "The Porch" which is a Cajun cuisine restaurant, good movies, and of course...the inevitable...Ticket to Ride :-) The entire fam also got a little taste of our Nursery calling on Sunday, which I'm sure was SOOO much fun for them, haha!

Note: The pics taken at McConkie Ranch (Indian Petroglyphs) are actually from two separate trips; one was a hike Danny and I took at the end of March, and we loved it so much that we took the Price's, making it our second trip up there. To keep the posts simple I just combined both sets of pics into one post.

By far one of the best family pictures taken :-)
