We decided to head to the city for a weekend date, and it led us to the Festival of Colors, which is a Hindu tradition to celebrate spring. I've always wanted to go to one, and Danny has been to one and knows what it's all about, so this year we headed up one of the festivals in Salt Lake! If you're not familiar with what this is all about, you can see from the pictures that it involves a form of powder paint, that is thrown in synchronization with other festival go-ers, to celebrate life and spring. Part of the tradition also entails throwing paint onto random strangers, which symbolizes and is meant to create new friendships. Let me just sum all of this up: Hippy festival. Totally amazing :-) In another life that's what both Danny and I must have been, or at least would have been had we been born in the 60s. We had a blast! I literally have the most awesome and most fun husband to walk the earth. Sorry to make you all throw up with my love dedications, but damn. I'm so lucky!
After the festival, the date continued on with one of the best dining experiences we've ever had, at a place called "The Melting Pot," which is a fondu restaurant. Talk about gluttony. It was so incredibly delicious, tons of fun, and we would HIGHLY recommend this as a place to go when you want to splurge and just have a great date with friends, significant others, spouses, anyone random you meet on the street...you get the idea :-) Such a fun place!
While AT dinner, we spotted Danny's best man and former roommate, KJ, walking down the street with this lovely lady, and come to find out she is the new girlfriend, Jamie!! To make things even more CRAZY, we ran into them A SECOND time while walking around temple square, so we just decided to keep up the double date and spend the rest of the night walking downtown and visiting!! It was WONDERFUL!! Very random, very awesome!
