We are able to attend the Sleight family reunion in Burley, ID at the end of June, and it was such a nice time. Pictured above is the headstone for my great-grandparents, who are buried there.
Several months ago when the reunion was announced, we were informed that my great-grandfather's (Orson Sleight) mission journals were going to be auctioned off at the reunion as well. When I left to serve a mission, my mom had actually sent me with portions of his journal, and they provided strength to me while I served. When I heard that the originals were going to be available, we immediately made plans to attend the reunion, for purpose of getting them.
When we arrived, the first thing that I asked was, "Where are the journals?!" Upon opening them and reading my grandfather's writing, I immediately felt that he really wanted me to have them. I can't say that I've had too many largely significant experiences in connecting to my ancestors like that, but this was one of those rare occasions. I'm very grateful that we went, and that I was able to get them, as well as connect more with that side of my family.

Part of the reunion activities included a riverboat ride on the Snake River. It was a perfect day for it! |

Reunion fundraising included donations for raffle drawings. Danny won my Aunt Moselle's contribution! We LOVED her gift! |
